Lilly's First Food!

Tonight we decided to let Lilly taste food other than breast milk! We started with carrots, only because that was the jar in the pantry left over from Kait's puree days. She truly enjoyed herself, eating from a spoon and swallowed a little bit! She has been waiting and wanting to eat with us so badly. She watches everyone eat and reaches for food, so it's time. Kait ate very well tonight. I had a sort of epiphany, that she eats well only if two conditions are met: 1. she is in a mood to eat, but more importantly 2. the food tastes excellent! The second condition is guaranteed if Daddy cooks, but hit or miss if Bop cooks. She ate her whole plate - chicken, green beans, and cheese. Kait chose to NOT take a nap today, which cannot be a new "thing," because I need her to take a nap every day! We walked to the park today, Kait walked the whole way there. I stroller-ed her home, only because she walks so slowly. I did see and hear the world today through her eyes and ears... every sound is louder and interesting, every statue in a yard is fascinating, that ladder on the jungle gym looks like a LOT of fun! She did very well walking though. Lilly is wanting to be more active, which is challenging when it's just me and the two girls. Kaitlyn still requires so much hands-on supervision when we're out, but Lilly wants to participate too! I need four arms, not two. Daddy cooked an awesome dinner using everything from our CSA bags, except the chicken which was bought at the store. Cheese-stuffed peppers over grilled chicken with a cumin-something marinade, and a chilled salad of ribbons of squash and green beans with a honey-asian chili sauce dressing. Way to go, honey! We are so happy, and so very lucky to have each other.
